COM

COMs, or Cybernetic Organism Mastercrafts, are sentient lifeforms entirely composed of synthetic or cybernetic matter. Their creation traces back to the development of artificially intelligent robots designed to serve both Humans and Beastians. As their AI evolved to achieve sentience, COMs began sharing many of the same laws and regulations as their organic counterparts. COMs can be found throughout Caelum, but a significant population resides in the continent of Helm. Their integration into the society has been a gradual process, marked by both acceptance and challenges.

Flow Affinity

COMs, much like Humans and Beastians, can harness Flow Energy. However, their eye colors do not reflect their Flow affinity and aptitude. They also cannot undergo a State of Revelation. These limitations are offset by parts and upgrades.

Frames

COMs have the option to upgrade themselves into a Frame or start out their lives as a Frame created or mass-produced by an entity. Frames are large mechanical titans capable of doing various tasks such as transportation and combat. They can range from vehicles to motherships like the LeShevat. Pop Culture in Caelum view Frames as "Giant Mechs" that people can pilot. There are also animated shows that feature Frames.

There is also another version of Frames called Hi-Frames. These types, unlike Frames, are smaller in size. However, they possess a significant amount of Flow affinity and reserves, making them more powerful than their counterparts.

Reproduction

COMs are capable of reproduction with another COM. This is usually done through merging a couple's data with the use of a "Repli Chip". When a couple merges their chips, it will start self-replicating the nanomachines stored inside until it completes the process (usually within 30 days). The completed COM replica will share the attributes and appearance of both parents. Repli Chips are limited to only one use (due to The Replicant Laws), so many COMs only resort to this if they are fully ready to commit to their mate (this, however, does not stop some from overriding their chips via modding.)

COMs who have non-COM companions usually resort to adoption in order to satisfy their need for a child. They might also use a donated Repli Chip to replicate themselves. The non-COM companion may also apply for a pseudo repli-chip by consulting a specialist.

Synthetic COMs can reproduce naturally or use a repli chip.

The Replicant Laws (COM Laws)

• COMs are not allowed to harm their creators or parents.
• COMs cannot reproduce more than once (Either through creation or replication).
• COMs cannot upgrade for the sole purpose of gaining power in any types of government.
• All creators must include a termination code into the COM's core module.

Decommissions

All sentient COMs are programmed to decommission their systems upon disobeying these laws (due to the termination code). Even if a creator forgets or voluntarily refuses to create the termination code, the code itself will find its way into the COMs systems through satellite interference. This also pinpoints the creator who broke the law. Elysion is an example of a COM who broke one of these laws. Since she disobeyed and caused harm to her creator, Gigarths Alkazen, the termination code decommissioned her.

COMs who were decommissioned cannot come back to life, and will be repossessed by a 3rd party repo service, usually within 15 days after their decommission. There are some exceptions to this, but only a handful of COM specialists can undo such damage done. Hitoshi's twin sister, Hitomi Imiwaki are among those specialists. Even then, the success of reversing such damage is so significantly low (not to mention the extreme amounts of financial toll), that almost all specialists tend stay away from offering such services.
