Syou (tribal name: Sterk Hart) is an Animan originally born from the Vernigde Tribe. He is currently the president of Exodus, and holds many secrets that may drive one into insanity should they discover them. He aids the main cast through unconventional means, and sometimes sabotages them all in the name of toughening them up for the prophesized calamity. Syou is also a secret playable character and therefore cannot be used in main story scenarios.

How to Unlock

NOTE: You must have Ridal and Artoria unlocked and in your party to follow this sequence.
NOTE2: Although not required, in order to find the clue to the first step, you can talk to Ojin in Kazuri while you have Ridal and Artoria in your party. He will mention that it's nostalgic to see two of the "Red Wing" members in the same room. He will also reminisce that it's been ages since he's seen the team compete in a tournament and would like to see them fight again.

• Head to the tournament grounds in Maelstrom with Ridal and Artoria in your party and enter the tournament.
• Change your team name to "Red Wing". The tournament clerk will mention a lore regarding that team name. Ridal and Artoria will also say something on the matter. You MUST enter with this name with Ridal and Artoria in your party, otherwise the next steps will be impossible to complete.
• Complete the tournament.
• On your way back to the tournament grounds, you will be met by Syou, who will mention that he saw the tournament and feels a little betrayed that he wasn't invited. He tells you the lore behind the "Red Wing" name and how it was his, Ridal, and Artoria's team.
• Enjoy the rest of the cutscene.
• After the entire banter, Syou will tell you fight him in the tournament if you wish to keep the "Red Wing" name.
• Enter the tournament again under the name "Red Wing". WARNING! Changing the name here will have you enter a normal tournament! Make sure to enter the right combination of letters.
• The tournament will now have some different teams featured, including the former champion.
• Survive 10 turns vs Syou. He has infinite HP, so do not waste your time and resources trying to beat him.
• The fight will end and a cutscene will occur with Syou stating that he forfeits. Hilarity ensues as the entire stadium boos your entire performance.
• As you return to the tournament grounds, Syou will talk to you again saying that he had fun and misses the times where he used to be in the frontlines.
• He will ask you if you had the opportunity to be immortal, would you take that offer. TELL HIM NO, OTHERWISE YOU WILL MISS RECRUITING HIM.
• If you answer no, Syou will share his mutual feelings towards the subject and laments that he was forced to live an immortal life. He will offer you his help as thanks for giving him a piece of nostalgia.
• Congratulations! You've unlocked Syou!

Playstyle

Syou's playstyle is similar to Elysion's in which he can switch from a defensive role to an assault role mid battle. He is also a DoT specialist, capable of stacking burn statuses and igniting them all for burst damage. His ultimate, "Reality Inversion" is an automatic victory for any fights, including bosses. However, it cannot be used again until NG+.

Techniques

At the beginning of battle, inflict a special "Burn" status to all enemies. This burn status cannot be cured and stays permanent until battle ends. Disappears once ignited.

Aruke adds additional DoT since her burn status can stack with Syou's. Syou can also ignite her burn statuses.

Background

Syou was originally a Karsandan human from the Vernigde Tribe 515 years ago. Around that time, the Imiwaki were also executing their plans for the Animan Project. Since Syou had the perfect DNA for the project, he was captured as a result. His genes were used to create the prototype Animan gene. This gene enabled any sentient being to commune with the Seraphim at will. Thus, allowing them to use some of their powers (including immortality). After his capture, his conscience was transferred into a new body in order to preserve his genes. After the Animan Project's demise, Syou woke up from his dormant body and started a new life.

Trivia

• Syou is the only character that has two Combat Styles among secret characters due to him canonically possessing a "Noah's Core".
