Ridal Laufel is an infamous Mage capable of manipulating space and time. He works in Kazuri as a Class C professor and aids the main cast throughout their days as Flow practitioners. As of current events, Ridal is holder of the Akashic Records and protects all access into the domain. He is very fond of his students and is willing to sacrifice a lot of his spare time in order to help them grow stronger.

Among all Laufels, Ridal is considered a maverick, due to his reluctance on writing some of his own discoveries and breakthroughs to the Akashic Records. Instead. he keeps a subconscious with all of his secrets that can only be accessed through self-hypnotism.

Ridal is also the inventor of warp pads that many establishments use to this day.

Ridal is also a secret playable character and therefore cannot be used in main story scenarios.

How to Unlock

NOTE: You must have Rita as your party leader for the following sequences:

• Once you've unlocked Core's domain, Ma'at will prompt the party to prepare before entering. Do not enter. Instead, exit the location or teleport to a purchased room in Karsand.
• Head back to Maelstrom and head inside the public library.
• Talk to the librarian and she will have a new set of dialogue mentioning about a "man with a silver-hair and sunglasses" borrowing a book but never returning it.
• Head back to Souen Continent and enter Souen City.
• Go to Kazuri High and enter the Faculty room. You will see April panicking. She will tell you that she oversaw a note at Ridal's desk and is worried about him.
• Examine the note on Ridal's desk. It will tell you to go see Tenji about a package.
• Head to LeShevat and talk to Tenji. He will ask you if you're tailing Ridal. THIS PART IS VERY IMPORTANT. TELL HIM THE TRUTH, OTHERWISE YOU WILL MISS RECRUITING RIDAL.
• Tenji will be interested on your "side mission" and will hand you a key to the locked door at the end of the Enchanted Forest.
• Head back to Karsand and enter Enchanted Forest, then proceed to the end of the dungeon where the locked door is located.
• Enter the locked door in order to unlock a new dungeon: The Royal Tomb
• At the end of the dungeon, you will encounter a boss: Berserker's Will. Your party won't be able to defeat it. Luckily, Ridal is also exploring the dungeon. He will replace the 3rd party member during the fight and you will get to try his kit here.
• After the fight, Ridal will ask you if Tenji sent you here. THIS IS ANOTHER IMPORTANT DECISION! TELL HIM NOTHING ABOUT TENJI'S INVOLVEMENT IN THIS, OTHERWISE YOU WILL MISS RECRUITING HIM.
• If done right, Ridal will be relieved as his venture in this dungeon should be kept a secret. In return, he will help your party whenever he's needed.
• Congratulations, you've unlocked Ridal!

Playstyle

Ridal's playstyle controls the battlefield with the use of his Nox spells. He can reduce all enemies' AGI down with the help of his Noxra. Like Lunari, he is capable of using the "Stasis" debuff with the use of "Noxus". While it does not stop time, Noxus (in addition to dealing heavy damage), immobilizes all enemies and bosses for 1 turn. This gives players a free turn for any follow-up strategies. He can also generate FP or SG to the entire team with the help of his stances.

Personality

Ridal is a carefree individual who is a teacher at heart. He loves seeing others cultivate their own skills, hopefully surpassing him in terms of creativity. He is not afraid to use unconventional means of teaching his students a lesson, even if it means gambling for their lives. He sees his fellow professors as friends rather than colleagues, as he feels a closer relationship feels a lot more natural to him.

Despite being paid well, Ridal ends up using most of what he's earned for the school's benefit, in addition to donating them for charity. Sometimes, this habit leaves him in debt, as evidenced by his 30 million glider debt with Tenji.

Relationships

Rita Laufel
He shows great care for his younger sister, and only wishes for her to succeed and surpass him as the next Laufel in line to become an Akashic Librarian. However, since Rita is interested in something else rather than becoming a top tier mage, Ridal shows comedic levels of sadness.

Artoria Lupus Domitia
Ridal and Artoria have a romantic relationship. Their relationship is also where Ridal shows his playful and mischievous side. He teases her on every opportunity he gets and even plans elaborate pranks on her. This is due to the fact that Ridal feels great satisfaction in seeing her unhinged reactions towards his shenanigans. Artoria is known to be extremely serious to the point where she rarely or never smiles. Ridal made it a goal to at least get a smirk from her.
